intro
Limiited edition vinyl remixes of tracks from Slowdive and Mojave 3 guitarist Rachel Goswell's debut solo album, 'Waves are Universal'
This record was issued on St Valentine's Day in a limited edition of only 1,000 copies in clear vinyl and in a plastic sleeve with an inner sleeve. It consists of two remixes each of 'Coastline' and 'Pluckled', both songs from her recent solo album, 'Waves are Universal.' Both 'Coastline'remixes are by Ulrich Schnauss. There is an instrumental version and a vocal mix. The vocal has a deep chilled out effect to it, giving it a feel of Rachel's early band Slowdive, but without the full on effect of shoegazing overload added onto it. Without the vocals,'Coastline' sounds more trippy, and quite hypnotic. The guitar weaves in and out of the mix sounding soemthing like Mojave 3, but also a bit like solo George Harrison. 'Pluckled 1' starts off sounding quite innocent, and takes a while to speed up, which it does eventually without killing the basic track. It sounds like something off Sgt Pepper but without the psych effect. 'Pluckled 2' is haunting, with a sad violin and cello vibe. The vocal are very soft and almost inaudible in a Slowdive way. The 'Coastline' and 'Pluckled' remixes are lovely.
