intro
Diverse punk rock with strong keyboard influence from new piece act from Finland, I Walk the Line
'Badlands' is the debut album of I Walk the Line, a great new punk/new wave five piece band from Finland. Guitarists Artti R and Jani create a really powerful sound with their instruments. The music of the whole group, through and through, is, however. really well thought out. What makes it particulary interesting is keyboardist Anna's organ which snakes in and out of each track and complements singer Ville's gritty hard bass, which runs up and down the scales in a R&B fashion Another really impressive feature of 'Badlands' is that each track sounds very different from the last. That is a real treat in iself. All too often with punk bands once you’ve heard the first track of a record you’ve heard the album, but that is not the case with I Walk the Line. 'Capsized' is reminiscent of Bob Mould's mid-80's band Husker Du with its feedback and distortion, while other tracks, such as 'Demons are Forever' have a similar high energy punk sound to the Libertines. The tempo of the songs changes throughout. 'Badlands' is a brilliant album. I will be looking out for more from I Walk the Line in future! A tour of the UK is scheduled for next May.
