intro
Intriguing new mini-album and salb of avant hip-hop from former Anti Pop Consortium mainman Beans, which, as well as six new tracks, also features various remixes
Yuk, Beans grew a beard. That's perhaps just a little too avant hiphop but, yeah, somehow this music has grown one too and, well, that's a sign of maturation. As well as six new tracks, Beans dishes up remixes of two of the most accessible tracks off his excellent album from early last year. There is the mp3 download from the Spring, 'Mutescreamer' in a Prefuse73 refix with added frantic beats and jiggy jiggy sounds. El P has remixed the same track as well and further twisted the pace. The highlight is a new track 'Win or Lose, You Lose' upon which Beans stuns with excellent nonsense and reading lines such as 'Judy Garland click my heels and make it happen in contrast'. Warp's the label that enables my unstable. As long as Beans continues to try out something new each time and keeps the flow, there's a whole lot to expect. I prefer his original mixes and 'Now Soon Someday' has three of them. Treasure these. Note the excellent packaging for the CD format.
