intro
Innovative dance rock from new Hamburg-based act, Mediengruppe Telekommander who claim links to the Baader-Meinhof Gruppe
Ah ouais! 'Telecommander' actually means 'download' in french while Mediengruppe in german stands for 'media group' as if you wouldn't have already guessed. From now on let's just refer to Mediengruppe Telekommander as MTK, Ok? The German leg of the Mute Records company picked up upon 'em from the current wealth of innovative dance-rock coming from the Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt and Hamburg areas. Little was wrong in that decision. Autumn 2003 saw the Mute release for beat racketeer T.raumschmiere and now the Mute 2004 momentum builds while beats connote the brisk MTK uproar. Disobedient slaves to a media mogul rhythm that they are, MTK first emerged via the Hamburg located underground Enduro/Lado offices and, as we communicate, act like a major disconcern to the authorities. Claiming a link to the Baader-Meinhof Gruppe, MTK does touch upon tricky parts in the history and upon the present state of Deutschland with a great deal of sarcasm. Whether it's yuppie lifestyle ethics or computers dictating one's work, MTK rebel to it. This outright agit-techno 'Die ganze Kraft einer Kultur' could be universal if only all peoples would understand German. 'Die ganze Kraft einer Kultur' features provocation in their songs with chords reminiscent of late 1970's and of early 1980's new wave. 'Trend' combines beats to a post-revolutionary generation with vocals commanding computer effects from the 21st Century. 'Die ganze Kraft einer Kultur' is a great dance album and leaves one with the notion that you can actually dance to the revolution!
