Hello and welcome to the December edition of the Pennyblackmusic Magazine. 2024 has not been a good year. In May, while it was never life-threatening, I became badly ill, and we were forced for the first time in our twenty-six year history into taking an extended break at Pennyblack . At the end of August, my father also died. He had been sick for a long time, and, while we knew that he was terminally ill, it was still a lot to contend with that this massive, monumental figure in my life was suddenly gone. We made a low-key return in November after a four and-a half month absence, just a few interviews and reviews really to see if we could and wanted still to do it. We did, We are now back with this bigger and more extended magazine. Thank you to Kimberley Bright, Steev Burgess, Malcolm Carter, Paul Clark, Adam Coxon, Dastardly, Anthony Dhanendran, Dixie Ernill, James Gardner, Dave Goodwin, Tommy Gunnarsson, Robert Hadley, Fiona Hutchings, Adrian Janes, Richard Lewis, Eoghan Lyng, Sreve Miles, PDave hilamonjaro, Shirley Procter, Mark Rowland, Maarten Schiethart, Lisa Torem, Andrew Twambley, Philip Wark, Cila Warncke, Amanda J Window and Denzil Watson for all their contributions and keeping their faith in Pennyblack during this year of upheaval. Special thanks to our webmaster Richard Banks without whom none of this would be possible. My dad was a nniversity professor and a writer. He wrote text books and field guides on paleontology, for which he would draw his own illustrations, and also ghost and science fiction stories. He was very supportive of everything us kids did, and, while his tastes ran more towards classical rather than rock and pop music, was always very encouraging of Pennyblack This edition is dedicated with love to Euan Clarkson (9.5.1937 -31.8, 2024), who taught me from an early age about the power of words and language John Clarkson Magazine Editor www,pennyblackmusic.co.uk
