Hello and welcome to the late November 2022 edition of the Pennyblackmusic Magazine After a two-and-a-half year absence due to the pandemic , we promoted two shows in September and October. The first of these was at The Water Rats in London and saw the return of Heist after a seventeen year absence and the farewell gig of Idiot Son whoi have appeared at many of our Bands Nights over the years. There were also great support sets from The Volunteered and Siimon Bromide. The second gig - a co-prmotion with Mr D- took place at THe Wee Red Bar in Edinburgh and saw fine solo sets from former Young Marble Giant Stuart Moxham -possibly the nicest man in riock and Jeremy Thoms (The Cathode Ray, New Leaf) and Roy Moller. We have now got the urge again to so a lot more, and our first gig of next year will take place again at THe Wee Red Bar in Edinburgh on Saturday March 25th. It will be headlined by the Glasgow band The Bathers, who have their long-awaited first album in two decades, 'Sirenesque', out next year and are playing their first Edinburgh gig in six years, Also on the bill is John Andrew Fredrick, the frontman from the durable and much acclaimed Los Angeles cult band the black watch, and who will be performing as the black watch (acoustic solo). Opening the night will be Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Stephen McLaren, whose second album 'They Don't Put Money in Your Pockets' has been receiving great reviews. We believe this is one of our best erer gigs, and tickets fot it which are on sale at We Got Tickets are seeling very fast If you are based in Scotland and want to come, we advice you to book early for this. We will be announcing a London show again with the black watch (acoustic solo) very shortly.
