intro
Disorientating but compelling new album from jazz-influenced punks Inutili
Ha, a new album from my favourite useless Italian quintet, Inutili! Teramo's Inutili have done some of the fiercest sonic punk music on their previous four albums but indeed it's John Coltrane's classic album that Inutili now pay tribute to on their latest for the adventurous and enterprising New Jersey label Aagoo. At the beginning it's a quiet liftoff on 'I'm On Plane' with gentle guitar and smooth organ haunts, then restarting after that halt, the band's freeform post punk gets the upper hand. On the second track (sic) 'Queen Crimson' they trim prog rock in just twelve minutes. A progressive prank? The track made me cheerful, where music has the capability to turn you into a silly billy and it's almost a case of The Beatles enjoying a safari joyride on 'Walking On Your Lips' next. Inutili's mature study into disorientation by music continues with a jazzy psychedelic blues rehearsal aptly titled 'DADADA'. The album's title track closes off this pleasant little journey into the realms of adventureland. Reply Forward
