Hello and welcome to the December 2021 edition of the Pennyblackmusic Magazine. It has been an up and down year for us at Pennyblackmusic, In late January our writer Keith How died unexpectedly. A lovely man, Keith, who was a few days away from his 71st birthday, just got absolutely so much of what Pennyblackmusic is about - not always focusing on the mainstream and looking for the best in independent and alternative music. He did just that with his own monthly column column 'Under the Radar' in which he championed and gave a voice to some often very obscure acts, and almost a year on from his passing remains a much missed member of our team. On a better note, our webmaster Richard Banks - who I feel sometimes is the great unsung hero of our website -used the time when we were all in lockdown last Christmas and he was unable to see his family to start developing our new look website, and we launched that in March. We have begun a new column this year 'In Dreams Begin Responsibilities', which written by European Sun's Steve Miles. has proved very popular, and we have seen the return of our resident poet Spencer Robertshaw with his poetry column 'Evidently Spencertown'. Our other regular columns, 'A Life in Music', 'Vinyl Stories', 'The Image That Made Me Weep', 'Bandcamp Explorer' and 'Raging Pages', all continue to flourish. We have rested the 'Ten Songs That Made Me Love...' column after almost ten years for a few months, but it will be back early in the New Year. We have also published over eighty interviews and two hundred and fifty reviews. As always, this magazine has come together through the support of many talented people. he support of a lot of talented people.
