intro
Andrew Twambley photographs Anna Calvi and Baxter Dury at Festival No. 6 in Portmeirion in Wales.
Festival No.6 is an annual art and music festival held in and around the village of Portmeirion in Wales which includes live music, poetry readings, comedy, talks and other cultural activities. Now in its seventh year, the festival takes its name from the 1967 cult TV show 'The Prisoner', which was filmed largely on location at Portmeirion. The main character in the series, who was played by the actor Patrick McGoohan, is a secret agent called Number 6, who is held as a prisoner in the village. This year's festival ran from Thursday 6th September to Sunday 9th September. Our photographer Andrew Twambley visited Festival No. 6 on the Sunday, and our two part gallery shows some of the acts that performed that day. The first four photographs in this first gallery show the fiery Anna Calvi, who Andrew says is the best live performer that he has seen this year, while the last two are of the eccentric Baxter Dury, who is the son of the famous Ian Dury.
