intro
Our Website of the Month is Dust-to-Digital, an archival website that focuses on folk, jazz and blues
Lance Ledbetter was granted the title, Historical Producer of the Year, in 2007, but that award merely scratches the surface of his overall accomplishments. With his wife, April, in Atlanta, Georgia, Ledbetter formed the website Dust-to-Digital http://www.dust-digital.com in the late 1990s. The mission is: "to produce high-quality cultural artifacts." The historical albums archived have achieved multiple awards in the folk, jazz, and blues genres. Imagine the strength of instrumental Greek music or colourful, seldom-heard arrangements from Ghana. What about a rare but detailed "Anthology of the String Bass"? The website also features documentaries on American blues artists and classic Alan Lomax audio recordings and film footage. The right-side of this primarily black and white formatted site exhibits a chronological "Interview Archive" which reveals intimate artist snapshots and vintage equipment. The great thing about this site is not just that one can enjoy the obvious affection the Ledbetters have for the archives at hand, but that it is extremely easy to navigate as the categories are clearly marked and logically categorised. Dust-to-Digital is an excellent website for individuals of all ages It helsp the user gain a better understanding of historically rich and relevant subject matter in a user-friendly manner.
