intro
Fantastic 60's-infuenced garage rock/psychedelia on limited edition vinyl only single from UK-based group, the Higher State
The Higher State, which features Paul Messis on bass and vocals and Dan Shaw on guitar, have been together for eight years now. Both sides of this limited to five hundred copies 7 inch are short and to the point. ‘Potentially (Everyone Is Your Enemy)’ revels in in its 60’s hipness, throwing in hints of Merseybeat, the Stones, the Kinks and from Los Angeles Love, the Seeds and the Byrds. This A-side is just over two minutes of jingle-jangle Californian sunshine. Its B-side, ‘All Ties That Bind’, is even shorter, Both tracks are slices of garage/psychedelic punk rock.‘All Ties That Bind’, however, adds a strong guitar lick reminiscent of the Stones’ ‘The Last Time’ but in its truest essence is like the Byrds without a Dylan influence, the Seeds pushing just a bit harder and the Elevators going up to floor 14. Perfect for this or any other summer.
