Excellent ninth vinyl single from garage punks the Higher State, who although they come from Sussex, have a West Coast sound

Although it is tempting to think that this is a re-issue from the late 1960's, the Higher State are from this day and age yet despite this have recorded their new single in mono. They have probably hurt themselves by banging tambourines on their hips on 'Your Casting Doubt'. Psychedelic garage punk on this double A-Side 45 flirts with the likes of Roky Erickson and Puritans by Heart. The Higher State is one of Market Square's label owner Paul Messis' bands. Going for a solid twelve years with several LPs and 45s under their belt the band, with various line-ups, has matured. 'X-Ray' is slower with a touch of very early Pink Floyd.
