intro
Catchy, but unoriginal drone rock on latest album from Detroit-based experimental act, Füxa
This must be a festival alert from the Rocket Girl label , as it is an album of catchy drone tunes as might have been done by the old Charlatans or from a sober Jesus And Mary Chain. The sleeve is meanwhile covered with swirly shapes to explain the general tone of 'Electric Sound of Summer'. These exalted drones make up perfect muzak. 'Cheree' lifts up ten minutes of your time, yet the next seven tracks last just over thirty minutes in total. And the album indeed is like that grand track 'Cherie' put on constant repeat. Füxa do, however, try out a few new tricks with the other songs in between. The title track is kind of spooky, having the sound of waves splashing onto the shore. Evolving even further, Füxa sound dangerously similar to Soft Machine on 'Thank You, Jesus'. Hardly original, Füxa are nevertheless a bit of fun.
