intro
Predictable, but accessible latest album from Four Tet, the much acclaimed project of former Fridge member Keiran Hebden
Filling the gap left between Fridge and Justice, Four Tet performs a neat yet predictable move. It's not so much because of that awfully Canadian hippy album title, this latest Four Tet album just craves for the attention. There is little wrong in that but thou should be warneth. Do not expect an intellectual challenge. I would never claim that Kieran Hebdan fits into Captain Beefheart's shoes, yet 'There is Love in You' draws comparisons with Beefheart's 'Unconditionally Guaranteed' album. With grace, it must be acknowledged, Four Tet bows down to the music market with its demands for easily understandable patterns these days. Please do not confuse now. The economy troubles us already enough, thank you very much. In perfect style, Four Tet bridges esoteric and gritty sound realms and his latest album hastily develops something new along the way. The single 'Love Cry' oddly enough left no dent and this is no doubt because of its pre-Christmas release rather than anything else. Its big, tribal sound carries the listener through its full 9 minutes, which leaves you in a trance and clashes with the outright dance floor material of the current scene. 'Sing' will probably bethe next single and dubstep producers will be queuing up to remix this odd, bouncy little gem. 'Plastic People' might become a Summer anthem. The track already announces Ibiza days with its tropical carnival touch. This is Fourtet's most accessible showcase. Enjoy!
