intro
Excellent latest single from Atlanta-based band Manchester Orchestra, who seem destined for major success
Having recently supported the mighty Biffy Clyro on their UK tour, Atlanta-based band Manchester Orchestra have undoubtedly put themselves firmly amongst the hot contenders for topping Best New Bands polls in 2010. The fantastic ‘Shake it out’ will only help further the band's career. This is, however is no flash in the pan, out of nowhere success story. After releasing their debut album, ‘I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child’, in 2007, Manchester Orchestra spent over 300 days touring it. It seems fitting that they should be touring with Biffy Clyro, who rose through the ranks similarly touring their little backsides off. They have also supported the likes of Kings Of Leon, Brand New and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. It is not hard to see why such great bands would want to have Manchester Orchestra along with them. While having elements of all those bands’ best bits, they have a really fresh yet familiar sound. Not afraid of a big chorus to help things along, they do not cut out on using proper guitars here as well, which have a grungy and lively sound. Singer Andy Hull has a fantastic voice that easily flits from gentle to intense and almost screams much like Dave Grohl. He is backed by a fantastically tight bunch in the form of Jonathon Corley (bass), Robert McDowell (guitars), Christopher Freeman (keyboards) and Jerimiah Edmond (drums). This band just sound like they’re meant to be huge. You will be hearing a lot more from them. And they’re not from Manchester
