intro
Surprisingly uninspiring new single from the City and the Colour, the solo project of Alexisonfire's Dallas Green
A much awaited release from Alexisonfire's Dallas Green. Starting as a small scale EP released to cult standing via the internet, Dallas Green's 'City and Colour' solo project has become something of a talking point amongst the "scene" , but sadly though from this song I believe it may be more because of his role in Alexisonfire than his solo writing skills. Don't get me wrong, his ability in both musicianship and with his vocals are very good, but for a man who played in a band like Alexis it feels like 'Save Your Scissors' lacks the balls of his band's releases, much against the popular notion at the moment. It comes across sounding like any acoustic musician and I must say on first listen it reminded me of an acoustic Bryan Adams. With further listens this thought has faded, but, as first impressions go... not the best. It does hold its own merit, but I feel, however, that is a relatively disappointing track. Despite this it has made me want to buy a copy of the album, just to make sure with myself that it's not all the same. After the hype and waterfall of recommendations I have received, I'm left feeling a little bored, and less than impressed.
