intro
Masterful first single from former Verve front man Richard Ashcroft's forthcoming third solo album
'Break the Night with Colour' is the first single from Richard Ashcroft's third solo album 'Keys to the World', which is due out on January 23rd. The intro to this recalls the Beatles' 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and has a clear masterful vocal from a singer who knows perfectly well what he is doing. Its tune is very much in the vein of mainstream indie and cross breeds early Oasis but has the forward thinking of a guy looking for just that little bit more out of it all. ‘The Direction', its B side, is acoustic based, featuring just a guitar and tambourine, and is reflective about life with some very beautifully sung backing harmonies. Class stuff !
