Goldstoned inhabit a world of wide screen cinema, in full Technicolor and glorious stereo sound, when air travel was decadent and the word "kitsch" had little relevance. Weaving a path that's somehow not quite fey, but not fully artificially sweetened or enhanced with irony, the sound of guitars, pianos and brass ease out over a Northern beat. You sit waiting for the deep rich voice you know is going to arrive with a glint in its eye and a cocktail in hand. This evokes retro futurist snapshots of Tokyo from a 60's Bond movie, and an era when plastic and manmade fibres were a modern miracle.
