Ivor Game is a London-based singer-songwriter, who came to notice performing solo acoustic shows at different venues in London and touring in England, LA, Nashville, Ireland and other parts of Europe, releasing a number of albums and singles. In November 2017 Game’s song ‘Highbury’ was broadcast at the Emirates Stadium in London during half-time in the North London Derby and most recently he appeared in the UK West Coast Folk Festival at The Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Game has now released a new EP, following up on his last album, the 2022 well-received ‘Fine Summer Rain’ and three singles, ‘In The Woods’, ‘Happy Again’ and ‘We’re Getting Older’. The songs on the EP, lasting two minutes or less, are delicate, tuneful acoustic vignettes, the overriding theme love. Tracks include: the opener and title track with its catchy, harmonious refrain; the minimalist ‘When I Think Of You’ featuring Game’s falsetto; a live version of ‘Will I Love Again’; ‘Does She Love Me’ with a dash of observational humour; and the reflective closer ‘Sun On Green Fields’, inspired by a train journey the musician had from Dublin to Cork: “… a huge sun appeared over the hills and trees…It stayed with me all the way, growing intense with every mile…in Cork there is a piano on the concourse… I jumped straight onto it to finish the song”. A melodic mix of folk-pop with thoughtful lyrics, ‘When Will You Fall Into My Loving Arms?’ comes out ahead of a performance by the musician, supporting Yorkshire singer-songwriter Katie Spencer, at Café 9 venue in Sheffield on April 26 and 27.
