intro
Sweetly jangling but flawed fourth album from London-based band Coldharbourstores
There is nasal nostalgia on London's Coldharbourstores' fourth album, and third with the Enraptured label. It is hardly a change from its predecessors. Tiptoe keyboards dripping with electronica, jangling chords and mumbled vocals continue to define Coldharbourstores' sound. Like a lukewarm cup of tea with little taste, the album is in a dire need of a stir up. There is an unhealthy dose of milk and honey on this album. Wee fun for in the morning or late in the evening before dozing off, 'Dearly Devoted' will calm down attention demanding children and agitated pets. Lacking sparkling imagination, a couple of uptempo tunes do save the album from complete oblivion. 'These Thieves' is one notable exception, and the closing track 'Pining' sums up their style most favourably.
