intro
Fantastic 60's-influenced psychedelic pop on limited edition vinyl-only single from Northampton-based band, the Moons
This is the third single from the Moons’ second album, ‘Fables of History’, which was recorded by Edwyn Collins at his London studio. It is only being released as a very limited edition 7 inch, and the A Side, ‘Something Soon’, also features front man Andy Crofts' main employer who happens to be one Paul Weller. Both sides of this single are rather special. ‘Something Soon’ jangles adorably, while a Hammond dances beside it. Crofts' vocals are soaked in Californian sunshine from approximately 1966. A pure golden psychedelic moment in time is captured perfectly on this track. The guitar solo is also the best guitar solo since Roger McGuinn first started jazzing up tunes for Bob Dylan. The B side, ‘Revolutionary Lovers’, is another slice of 60’s summertime pop. It is a song that makes you smile and forget what a terrible summer we had last year. With this song, we can hope for a better one this time.
