The Rialto Burns were a young post-punk/electronic band from Liverpool. The subject of an interview and various Photoscapes at Pennyblackmusic, they recorded both a ten track EP, 'For the Asking', and a download only album, 'Learning to Fight', in 2011, both of which came out on Gung Ho! Recordings. They announced their split on their website on the 8th December, irnonically two days after playing one of their biggest gigs to date in support of the View at the O2 Academy in Liverpool. "It’s with heavy hearts and deep regret that we have decided to call time on The Rialto Burns," they explained. "It’s truly been an amazing journey but we felt it best to end on a high after Thursday’s show at the Liverpool O2 Academy." "It seems difficult these days for a band to get decent exposure, whether signed or unsigned. This is why it’s really important for the local music scene to pull together, support bands for what they are and recognise the amount of work that is done by them. There are certain people within Liverpool who are in an extremely privileged position to help get bands heard, but sadly many of them can’t look beyond their own friends and circles. We urge everyone to support local bands and musicians." These photographs were taken by Marie Hazelwood at that last gig on the 8th December.
