intro
Inriguing, but ultimately baffling electronica on eighth album from Dussledorf-based trio, Kreidler
Kreidler's music again has a stillness on 'Den'. The Düsseldorf trio's misleadingly minimalistic electronic music almost naturally follows a stripping of sound. After their 'Tank' album from a few years ago, the sequence of album titles now articulates a logic in Kreidler's discography. Which starts to read like an apt summary as 'Den' has created this vacuum. As a homecoming, perhaps even involving cocooning, 'Den' simultaneously provides a drawback as if Kreidler have become shy of the wide spaces their music has created on their previous seven albums. As if out on parole, this latest Kreidler album reveals a depth which sits neatly between puritan electronica and bellowing frenzy. All three Kreidler members now seem to play the keyboards, thus creating a digital wealth. This whirlpool of sound serves no other purpose than to draw attention towards the funky blandness. Bear in mind that 'Den' is little else than a hideaway for big sounds, tucked in before winter. It is fabulous stuff to keep you warm, adding a new meaning to 'a warm blanket'. Kreidler's methods continue to intrigue in a way that leaves one baffled.
