Silver Factory - The Sun Shines Over You
Label: Elefant Records
Format: 7"

intro

Excellent vinyl only debut four song EP from Byrds- influenced Leicester-based band, the Silver Factory

This green vinyl four track EP comes with a free download link and a lyric sheet. It may be only the Silver Factory's debut EP, but.being the new boy in their native city of Leicester, I have to say that they have got me very excited. They look like on the sleeve of this like a very Young Buffalo Springfield, and play music that sparkles with the early jangly sound of the Byrds. The EP has three songs from Fran Feely, who is the main songwriter in the band, and one from his brother and their former lead singer Peter Feely, who has now left the band to be replaced by Marc Johnston. 'The Sun Shines Over You' has the sunshine feel of the Cosmic Rough Riders, the only Poptones band to appear on 'Top of the Pops'. It is very fast, very jangly and very much in the spirit of early Sarah Records. It will instantly put a smile onto your face, even if you are in a foul mood or have never heard of the Byrds. 'She Smiles' is Peter's song, even faster and again perfect jangle heaven, full of summer sunshine with perfect backing harmonies that draw comparisons with the Beatles and the Beach Boys. 'I'm Not Young Enough to Know Everything' is on the flip side and a flower power Paisly Pop number. If you ever fell under the spell of the Rickenbacker sound, then this will make you melt. 'Tomorrow's Today' is remisncent of the Byrds, but faster-paced, a song to dance around too, while also leaving you with a silly grin at the same time. Excellent!
