intro
Fabulous combination of new and old reggae on second double album from Scottish collective, Mungo's Hi Fi
This second double LP from Scotland's premier reggae collective features contributions from both established names such as the late Sugar Minott as well from youngsters Pupa Jim and Soom T. Firmly rooted in old skool reggae, the little treasure sound system that is Mungo's HiFi has been injected with small doses of new, nu styles to elaborate on riddims new and popular. Further contributions come from Mr Williamz, twice, but the best is saved until the last. Ranking Levy, Zeb and Scotty, Biga Ranx and the Gentlemen's Dub Club join the party on the second LP. After introducing a dozen fresh reggae riddims, 'Forward Ever' serves as a continuously evolving showcase. It delves into dubstep even in the closing track, 'High Grade'. 'Forward Ever' introduces a few fine new riddims without the usual tacky misogynistic and homophobic nonsense ever so popular in reggae these days.
