intro
Earthy and intimate latest single from Portsmouth-based band the Strange Death of Liberal England, the release of which is accompanied by an unique competition
The Strange Death of Liberal England first came on the scene in 2007 when they released several singles which culminated in the mini album ‘Forward March’. It helped the band make plenty of waves in the right realms and earned them a solid and fanatical fanbase in the process. Other than a very special orchestral show in their hometown of Portsmouth in 2009, the band kept themselves out of the glare of the spotlight until the release of their 2010 album, ‘Drown Your Heart’. An unique competition has been announced with the release of ‘Come On You Young Philosphers' which involves keen eyes watching its accompanying video in order to pick up clues. There is a real buzz about the Strange Death of Liberal England at the moment, but not the sort of over the top flashy buzz that we’ve become accustomed to. It is something a lot earthy and intimate, and this is where the band's appeal stems from. Both tracks on this single are delicate and playful. They have a warmth about them and in this folk-tinted indie that is seeing the likes of Stornoway and Mumford and Sons storm the airwaves. There is a wonderful Englishness about them, and I mean that in the best way possible. Not over stated in anyway, just honest and proud.
