Immediately classic debut single from Essex-based Northern Soul group, The Milk
This debut single from Essex-based group The Milk is a kind of combination of Curtis Mayfield meets Frankie Valli meets Gnarls Barkley meets Cee Lo Green and it does a decent job. On my second listen I really started to get their Northern Soul type groove. This recording will end up being a collectors' special if it doesn’t get airplay. It is really good, but radio stations might not take a chance with it apart from Radio6 or The Craig Charles funk and soul show. It is a perfect record for Craig to play as it fits very nicely with his groove. So what has it got? A definite undertone of 'Move On Up' in its backing, a good catchy vocal that will definitely fill the right dance floor at one of the soul weekenders that still thrive and have a healthy following. When this record gets airtime, it will sell fast. Already the music and normal media are picking this as a definite one to watch and I am with them 1000 per cent. A great record. I am keeping my ears open for The Milk's debut album. I hope it’s soon.
