intro
Unobtrusive, but warm third album from Minneapolis-based country-soul singer, Alison Scott
A very soulful voice and a good vocal range set Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter Alison Scott up well on her third album, 'Chinese Whispers' Every track apart from one is written or co-written by Scott herself. It has an American mainline feel to it which measures up against a safe and unobtrusive country-soul sound of the kind that always fills halls and gets radio play. It will appeal to the Radio 2 type of listener with its pleasant easy listening warmth. There is a cheeky feel to 'Smash and Grab' with its 60’s adventure hero backing (Green Hornet meets Batman), while a decent reworking of 'Waterfalls' shows Scott can do also do classic numbers and keep in the same league. This is a perfect sunny Sunday morning album which will just flow over you, while you have a cup of coffee and read the paper. If you like female vocals and want to hog the sofa for an hour or so, then this album will be for you.
