intro

Blissful, but drowsy-sounding space rock on second album from Fell, the moniker for Denver-based musician Jon Wambeke

The title of Fell’s sophomore album is at least half correct – the blissful drift of the upcoming track’s looped vehicles and rhythmic thrum does suggest a lullaby. The album is entirely written and mostly performed by Jon Wambeke of similarly drowsy Denver psychedelic duo Phineas Gage ( a few others help out on bass and drums). Drawing heavily on the influence of British spacerock bands and the perennially influential My Bloody Valentine, ‘Incoherent Lullabies’ also conjures up memories of Australia’s the Church and Canadian nod-folk superstar Rick White of Eric’s Trip with its slowly rippling waves of noise and Wambeke’s sedate vocals. With it’s strummed guitars and narcoleptic percussion it would be an ideal Sunday morning record, if not for the grave possibility it might possibly return the listener to stuporous reverie. Fell’s latest is an ideal album for people who like to sink slowly into whatever they happen to be listening to.
