intro
Violent-in-sound, but integral and brutally honest latest mini-album from the abrasive Lydia Lunch, which finds her on this record collaborating with Gallon Drunk
Lydia Lunch has been in the alternative public's eye since the late 70s. A multi-talented performer, she is not only involved in music, but also film, art, poetry and prose writing. She has collaborated with artists as varied as Nick Cave, Henry Rollins and Kim Gordon. For the past 10 years she has been collaborating with Gallon Drunk in a number of different musical ventures. On 'Big Sexy Noise' this takes the form of bluesy, sexy, raw rock. Lydia Lunch can give Nick Cave a run for his money with songs of sex and violence, and even if there's not violence in the lyrics it's there in the music on this mini-album with its tearing, screaming saxaphone and pounding bass lines. On first track Another Man Comin' she tells her ex that she's not going to let the bed get cold before she installs a new lover. Third track, 'The Gospel Singer', was co-written with Kim Gordon and the fifth track, 'Kill Your Sons', is a Lou Reed cover that fits well with the rest of this mini LP. Lunch has a lot of energy and is one of those artists that keeps giving and coming up with work that's intense and full integrity and brutal honesty
