intro
Appealing country punk from the Mississippi-based the Bosshoss, whose latest album is a collection of both good time covers and striking original material
The Bosshoss come from Berlin, Mississippi and are a fantastic punk/rock/country/cowboy band who play good time tunes. With country tinted rock songs such as ‘Stallion Battalion’, which kicks the album off in fine style, and ‘Yee Haw’ they have they unmistakable sound of the Southern United states. Having built a solid fanbase in their native and surrounding areas with music that gets everyone up and dancing, they are currently on tour in Europe and it is not hard to see them making a name for themselves all over the world. The cowboy rockers have a little help from various other artists along the way as well as they throw in a good number of cover songs, which just goes to show further how good this band must be live. On 'Shake and Shout' they cover Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’, Outkasts' ‘Hey Ya’ and Burt Bacharach’s ‘Say a Little Prayer’ all in their own hillbilly way, coming across as a sort of country version of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. They manage to not sound like they are doing parodies of the songs and make them their own which is a huge part of their appeal. They are definitely worth going to see live if this album is anything to go by. Look out for them !
