intro
In our 'Photoscapes' series, Katie Anderson photographs Californian post-hardcore band Finch at a gig at the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms, who have recently reunited after taking an indefinite hiatus in 2006
When Californian post-hardcore band Finch took an "indefinite hiatus" in February 2006 so that its members could concentrate on other projects, it was uncertain if they would return or not. The band have, however, had an active 2008 since reforming in November of last year for a gig at Pomona in California. There have been other US shows. They appeared the 'Give It a Name' festival in London in May, and returned to Britain in November to play their own headline tour. There has also been a new self-titled EP, which follows on from a previous EP, 'Falling into Place' (2001), and two albums, 'What It is to Burn' (2002) and 'Say Hello to Sunshine' (2005). Finch, which currently consists of Nate Barcalow (vocals),Randy Strohmeyer (guitar, vocals, Alex Linares (guitar, vocals), Drew Marcogliese (drums, percussion) and new recruit Daniel Wonacott (bass guitar, vocals), have always had a reputation for beng a ferocious live act. As Katie Anderson's photographs which were taken at the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms on November 23rd reveal, they have lost on stage, despite their long absence, neither their passion nor energy for performing music.
