intro
Fantastic new EP and first release from Mogwai's forthcoming new album, which includes a guest appareance from former 13rth Floor Elevators' frontman, Roky Erickson
'Batcat' is the first release from Mogwai's forthcoming new album, 'The Hawk is Howling'. The title track is loud and doomy from the start, raw and very menacing, with an edge that puts shame to most bands around today. 'Stupid Prick Gets Chased by Police and Loses Slut Girlfriend' is a great title for a song, but unlike its title it is fairly mellow, with soft picked guitar lines which only gently speed up at the end. 'Devil Rides' is the reason that I bought this EP as the vocals are by the former 13th Floor Elevators frontman, Roky Erickson. This has gentle guitar but is as slo-core as the Red House Painters, with a sad vocal from Roky which works well within Mogwai's music.
