intro

Catchy third single from London-based indie rock act, Palace Fires

Palace Fires remain came onto the scene about two years ago and are one of my favourite bands of all time. ‘Fear of Falling’ has been in their live set, since day one and has been on their MySpace page nearly that long as well.It is now the title track of their third single, which is currently available as a promo CD in a DVD style wallet from www.palacefires.co.uk, prior to its commercial release as a download on May 19th. ‘Fear of Falling’ is catchy in every way from its first note to its last. Ed Bannard's vocal is very easy to listen to, while the backing guitar by Steve Mason gives the track strong enough assistance without drowning it in lead guitar lines. Along with some pretty much perfect drumming from Matt James and bass work from Mike Buchanan, it captures all of which Palace Fires do well. The other three tracks here are new, and have not been performed live as of yet.In recent times, Palace Fires have been branded as a folk and blues act, because of their joint love of Bob Dylan and because Ed is a solo artist in his own right.‘Undone’, the second track, is mellower in sound, and shows the band's softer side. The third track, ‘Let It Go’, is more moody with twangy guitar work. It is very easy on the ears and a song to sway to after a few drinks or more. The final song is a reworked version of ‘Fear of Falling’. It is backed by piano, which adds a different sort of depth to the track, making it sound sadder, but also more hopeful at the same time.
