intro

Intriguing, but ultimately frustrating combination of classical and pop music on new instrumental album from London-based musician, David Motion

David Motion comes from an advertising and classical music background and his latest album ,'Neo-Classic', is an intriguing hybrid of classical music with a pop influence. The opening track, 'Buoyancy', sets the tone for the rest of the album with a series of instrumental classical tracks set to a pop structure. Although the emotional aspects of each track changes, the structure of each track remains the same. Special note must go to Antonia Pagulatos’ skill with the violin, standing out from an impressive played swathe of instruments including the cello, flute, and double-bass. Despite the varying emotive qualities of each track, the lack of variance in track structure proved frustrating for this reviewer, and left me feeling disappointed at what could have been a much more fulfilling album.
