intro
Raw-sounding punk rock from Brooklyn duo the Tiny Masters of Today, which consists of 13 and 11 year old siblings Ivan and Ada
The Tiny Masters of Today are based in Brooklyn, New York, and are brother and sister, Ivan, who is 13, and Ada who is aged 11.'Hey Mr DJ' is a primitive-sounding number with a lead guitar that is as dirty as that of the White Stripes and, featuring Ivan's childish vocal, has added hip hop scratches and gritty bass and drums that just melt totally together. The Liars remix of 'Hey Mr DJ', which appears on the CDS version, is very bass heavy with chunks of samples from the song. The vocal is reduced to sadly a mush, until half way through and this doesn't add to the song at all. The 'Lucky Number Nine', which is the third and final track on the CDS ,is echo heavy and raw in a NYC 70's punk way, and is lovely. On the B side of the 7 inch is the CSS remix of 'Hey Mr DJ' , which is very house-orientated in a 1980's Madonna club style, and is made for the easy listening crowd so as not to be deaf the next morning after over doing it the night before.
