intro
Outstanding first recording in seven years on new EP from Slipstream, the project of ex-Spiritualized members Mark Refoy and Johnny Mattock
Slipstream return after a seven year break with the driving techno psychedelica of 'A.E.I.O.U.'. A robotic talking dictionary breaks us into things, before a pounding club beat takes over, a heart trembling bass hook rumbling along before splicing into an outrageous guitar riff. It’s the sound of a million sundrenched acid dreams and is absolutely fantastic. The goodness doesn’t stop there however, as B-side ‘When The Summer’s Gone’ is the perfect accompaniment, bringing us down from the high of the A-side and taking us away to somewhere a little more relaxed, stunning melody and spacey guitars all round. The EP closes with a juiced up club mix of ‘A.E.I.O.U.’ which is every bit as mesmerising as the rest of this release. Get yourselves a copy of this EP and play it on loop until the Slipstream spaceship swings around and lands again, hopefully with a barrel load of monsters like this. Outstanding stuff, really.
