intro
Disco flavoured new wave on excellent comeback single from Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who has taken time out to have a baby
Sophie Ellis-Bextor returns after taking time out to give birth. Her husband, Richard Jones, after being her bass player, is now doing the bass thing in the Feeling. ‘Catch You’ is a fine return for the ex-singer of the Audience. What a great band they were too ! It is a fine piece of new wave-influenced disco flavoured pop. Written for her by Cathy Dennis who wrote ‘Can't Get You Out of My Head’ for Kylie, it is as catchy as an early Blondie hit. It has an early 80’s feel, and should see our Sophie back near the top of the charts. The B side is the self composed number ‘Down with Love’ which is strong and solid, and too good for a mere B side if you ask me. It is what Sophie does best and has elegance and swagger. This is great stuff. I can’t wait for the album now, which we will have to wait for until May.
