intro
On a support date to Juana Molina, Anthony Strutt at his local cinema in Greenwich in London watches Irish folk artist and singer songwriter Fionn Regan play a pleasant and enjoyable set
Fionn Regan has just delivered a fine album on Bella Union called 'The End of History'. It is a solid collection of folk based tales, and is lightly backed with enough of Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake in Fionn's voice to lift it up from the crowd. Tonight he plays in the basement of my local cinema, with its own private bar and with sofas for almost everyone, playing support to Argentina's Juana Molina. Both acts suit each other's audience. Fionn reproduces the album with a leather jacketed punk on bass and a hippy on drums to fine form, Juana Molina has nothing but problems with the sound, but is as mad as early Sugarcubes Bjork. This Monday night gig was a pleasant and gentle introduction to the forthcoming week.
