intro
Latest 2 track solo offering from prolific Welsh post punk experimentalist Syd Howells
The ever-prolific Syd Howells’ latest solo offering is a 2 track single, opening with ‘Chewing Gum Lung’, a thumping rock track with an 80's post-punk style bass-line and a brilliant drum-machine beat. The guitar is skewed, particularly in the solo, where it sounds like notes are being smacked out of the instrument. It’s a pretty great song actually. I can imagine it would go down pretty well with fans of the 80’s underground scene. The second track, ‘Britney Spears and Male Pattern Balding’, is an acoustic gem of punk rock about the blasé attitudes of a certain pop princess. This is exactly the sort of song I’d like to hear on a juke box, the kind of song where everyone can join in on the chorus for a drunken sing-a-long.
