Dull folk rock from London-based duo Ellenby, one of whom has appeared in West End show Jesus Christ Superstar

This is folk at it’s dullest, Christian rock meeting Enya. Ellenby are a duo based in London. They have been touring together for a number of years and songwriter Ben Goddard has appeared in West End show Jesus Christ Superstar. Liz Young has a pleasant but bland voice offering nothing distinctive or memorable. The EP could quite easily have been written for the stage and this is where the duo’s talents obviously lie after Goddard’s starring theatre role. None of the four songs stand out from one another. The music is not bad. It is just boring. I hope Ellenby find their way back to the stage. If touring, however, is what they love I don’t think they will find themselves heckled off, but unfortunately they won't ever be more than background music.
