intro
First album from US West Coast electronica act Copy, the moniker for Marius Libium, which proves to be a "worthwhile mish mash of dance music styles"
Fresh new face on the US West Coast elektronic scene Copy, the moniker for Marius Libman, throws in a worthwhile mish mash of dance music styles. He's a bit of Mickey Rooney, perfecting house, stamina elektronics and other jumpy stuff while keeping the ball up for stretches of 45 minutes. Drawing the maximum effect from simple structures and melting beats with primary instinct samples, Copy leads you through fields where you would hear bulls bellowing while birds (or monkeys) hum tunes from thèir shoulders. Far from an exquisite masterpiece, 'Mobius Beard' never sinks below par. The somewhat quirky orchestration of elektronica is like the icing on what is and shall remain a good value cake from a low budget supermarket. A dance act this one-man Copy band is for the time being and the opening track, 'A Slight But Delicious Warble', proves a classic for the floor. At some stage though this Marius Libman will have to restrict his efforts to composing. 'Afro Oven' hints at greater tracks to come. Both 'Plagiarhythm' and 'Tailored Pants' round off a session that started with dancing. By the time the closing track 'The Wheel' starts spinning though, you'll be searching for the mattress. In a merry fashion no doubt.
