'Forever Lost' is the proper debut single from a band much loved and hated at the same time. The Magic Numbers are four, two brothers and two sisters, whom look like they have just woken up in 1973, but their music is as chilled out as a sun filled Brighton july day. 'Forever Lost,', which follows on from two very limited 7" records, sees perfect lovely backed harmonies, the best this side of sunny California, which are combined with a twee version of 70's rock. I didn't know what to expect but I fell in love instantly. 'Idea of a Feeling' isn't as strong but sounds like an experimental Neil Young in a home demo sort of way. There is also a DVD version of the single with a cartoon video in the style of the 'Yellow Submarine', and some live footage shot at the London Borderline during their residency there last November. The 7 inch picture disc features lead singer Romeo Stodart singing solo 'I Hope You Don't Mind' which is heavenly and like a solo acoustic Bob Dylan.
