intro

Musically sunny and laid back, and lyrically world weary new Ep from teenage prodigy Luke Hirst, who proves to sound surpisingly old for his tender years

Luke Hirst is only about 16, but he certainly doesn’t sound it on this self-titled EP. The songs would not be out of place on Damien Rice’s ‘O’ album, and are delicate, emotional and mature. Hirst is lyrically a lot older than he actually is, though he’s no Tom Waits. With the exception of ‘The Woodmen’, which doesn’t quite work lyrically, the songs on the EP sound surprisingly world weary, covering life lessons and past mistakes that shouldn’t have affected him at his age. Hirst's lyrics are backed with sunny, laid back music. The EP is not likely to totally blow you away, as Hirst has a long way to go yet. As starts go, this is, however, very good

Track Listing:-
