intro
Almost unlistenable art rock on debut record by new Scottish act, Thee Moths
What can I say without being overly harsh ? This four track EP has pretty much no artistic, musical or even financial talent to its name. To me it sounds like a lot of random percussion being bashed in a drunken state with some random vocals mixed too low to be able to hear if they have anything worthwhile to say. I like DIY stuff. In fact I thrive on it as it gives musicians the freedom to work whenever and wherever they like, but there has to be a level of competence with those creating the work. Otherwise you end up with what I am forcing myself to listen to at this moment in time. It does have the occasional good points. For example the third track, 'The Stream', has a lovely acoustic guitar intro but this is then ruined by a horrific and I think almost infantile call and response between the male and female voice and then some barely in time kick drum. I very rarely totally slate records but I honestly hope I never hear anything by this act again. If you think I am wrong, please try to educate me. I will be happy to be shown other examples of their work to try and change their mind, but this is just horrific.
