intro
First-rate debut EP from British three piece grunge/metal act, Septembre, the new project of Vex Red frontman Terry Abbot
Where to start, where to start, this band have constantly been compared to giants such as The Smashing Pumpkins and Silverchair and I am not going to buck that trend. From the jump-up-and-down sing-along chorus rock of the commercial opener 'I am Weightless’ to the slow burning crescendo of a finale on the closing track '(Face)', this band are epic in sound They ooze with an American stadium grunge sound. With the added dimension of lead singer Terry Abbot’s beautiful English accent and some truly sensual guitar playing the whole experience is, however, taken to another level. I think the comparisonss to the likes of Silverchair are valid. This band do in certain places sound that way, but is that a problem? The EP pulses powerfuly and emotionally, but without ever having to resort to the tired and, in my opinion, dead screaming over-the-top metal guitar riffs that are so popular nowadays. Three words Beautiful Powerful Buy it (Ok that’s four I know, but you get the idea!)

Epic guitar rock band Septembre is the new project of ex- Vex Red singer, Terry Abbot. At their first headline show, fan Philip Vincent watches them put on an unfortunately lacklustre show to an audience consisting largely of label and magazine people |
