intro
Dull disco-inspired new single from the much acclaimed Goldfrapp
I can't really say that I am a massive fan of Goldfrapp When Alison Goldfrapp first appeared, she did a good version of Portishead. Discos and gay bars will love 'Twist', but while is is very danceable, it comes across as sub standard Kylie. The second track is listed here as 'Yes, Sir'. Older music fans, however, knew it as 'Yes, Sir I can Boogie', a massive slice of disco cheese by the long-forgotten Baccara from '79, which was quite enjoyable at the time. Here you can't hear that track in this cover, its only benefit being that it sounds a little like Black Box Recorder. The only thing that really works for me as music on this three track EP is the final song, a beautiful live reading of Felt Mountain"s 'Deer Stop', recorded in July in the sun at Somerset House in the London Strand. It is jazzy, string based and sounds like Bjork and Tindersticks at their best.
