intro
Experimental, but excellent oddity from Birmingham's much touted Broadcast, back with their first new material in over 3 years
'Pendulum' features the first new material from Birmingham's Broadcast in over 3 years, who are now a 3 piece plus session players. It is a six track mini album with 5 exclusive tracks that will not appear on their forthcoming album, 'Haha Sound' 19 minutes in length, it finds the band experimenting more and features a lot of Bjork style weirdness, great bass lines and some cool drum patterns. 'Small Song IV' has a slow and chilled out vocal from frontwoman Trish Keenan, which is very reminiscent of the soundtrack to 'Rosemary's Baby', the '68 film from which the band has taken its musical style. Other pieces are more electronic or jazzy or post rock in style, not what you would expect from Broadcast at all, but good because of it. For me, the stand out track is 'Still Feels Like Tears', which is trendy and cool, and has such a strong vibe to it that it could easily be a single. It is good to have them back.
