A slighty twee but nevertheless enjoyable collection of hits and misses from Chicago's 'Son's of the pioneers'. These are predominately cowboy sing a longs recorded in the 1940's, essentially for radio broadcast (after a string of film work with western star Charles Starett). Most of this sounds like something John Peel would play and then tell you that he bought it when it came out. The sound quality of this release considering the age of these recordings is incredible with a host of standout cuts notably 'One More Ride', 'Coyote Serenade' and 'Cool Water' all written by the band's Bob Nolan. Worth investigating.
