New album from shoegaze/kosmische multi-instrumentalist Lorenzo Parisini aka Bear of Bombay following the release of his acclaimed EP ‘Something Stranger’ in 2021

To sum up his new album, the title ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze’ could not have been better chosen; Lorenzo Parisini in the guise of Bear of Bombay has released a stunning set of songs showcasing his ability to build a dense, multi-layered, hypnotic soundscape. Continuing in the vein of his masterly EP ‘Something Stranger’, elements of shoegaze, kosmische, psychedelia, electronica and dreampop combine to pleasing effect in this very welcome new release. Opening track ‘Tears from Space’, which features Clustersun, has a dreamy, floating quality counterpointed by a slightly discordant, snarling electric guitar. ‘Movin’ On’ has a feel of ‘80s synthpop and calls to mind Depeche Mode, while ‘Phony Love’ has an almost Pet Shop Boys feel. ‘A New Wonder’, which features The Mystic Morning, leisurely shimmers and sparkles, and the pace accelerates on next track ‘Close Your Eyes’ which is a return to a vintage synthpop vibe. ‘In Dreams’ features Rev Rev Rev and has a lovely, ambient feel. ‘Wingless’ takes us back to the ‘70s through a sound of sheer old-school electro-pop. ‘The Castle’ pulsates with an atmosphere of pure disco, and final track ‘Be Your Blood’ changes the mood completely (“I can always be your blood/You can always be my force”), a rather dark, gloomy and introspective-sounding ending to this glorious album. Mixed and mastered in London by James Aparicio, who has worked with such luminaries as Nick Cave and Depeche Mode, ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze’ establishes Bear of Bombay as one of the finest recent purveyors of psychedelic electropop.
